Red hair is having a major moment—from soft strawberry blonde to rich auburn to bold copper. At Welcome & Wanted Hair Bar in Canton, we're creating gorgeous red tones all the time. But before you go red, here's what you should know.

Red Is Beautiful… and High-Maintenance
Let's be honest upfront: red is one of the hardest hair colors to maintain. Red pigment molecules are larger than other colors, meaning they:
●Don't penetrate the hair shaft as deeply
●Wash out faster
●Fade more noticeably
This isn't to discourage you—red is stunning! Just go in with realistic expectations.
Types of Red Strawberry Blonde
The softest red—blonde with a peachy-pink undertone. Lower maintenance
because it's subtle.
Copper
Warm, orange-leaning red with lots of shine. Very trendy right now. Shows fading more
quickly.
Ginger
Natural-looking red-orange, like natural redheads. Can range from subtle to vibrant.
Auburn
Red-brown blend. More wearable for conservative settings. Fades more gracefully than
pure reds.
True Red / Cherry / Burgundy
Fashion-forward reds with more intensity. Fun but definitely
high-maintenance.
What Goes Into Getting Red
Starting blonde or light brown? Easier process—color deposits more vibrantly on lighter hair.
Starting dark brown or black? May need lightening first to achieve vibrant red. Otherwise red will be subtle or only visible in sunlight.
Current hair color/history? Previous color can affect results. Green or ash tones can muddy red results.
Maintenance Reality Check
To keep red vibrant:
●Color-depositing products: Red shampoos/conditioners refresh tone between appointments
●Cold water washing: Hot water opens cuticle and releases red pigment
●Less frequent washing: Every wash fades red
●Sun protection: UV fades red quickly
●Appointments: Plan for color refresh every 4-6 weeks
Who Red Looks Great On
Red can work on many skin tones—it's about finding the RIGHT red:
●Warm skin tones: Copper, ginger, warm auburn
●Cool skin tones: Cherry, burgundy, cool auburn
●Neutral skin tones: Lucky you—most reds work!
The Commitment Question
Ask yourself honestly:
●Am I okay with frequent salon visits?
●Will I use color-depositing products at home?
●Can I handle the fading process?
●Am I ready for attention? (Red hair gets noticed!)
If you answered yes, let's do it!
