Winter in North Georgia means unpredictable weather—cold mornings, warmer afternoons, and that dry indoor heat that wreaks havoc on your hair. If you've invested in color or extensions at Welcome & Wanted Hair Bar, here's how to protect that investment all season long.

The Winter Hair Struggle is Real

Cold air outside and heated air inside create the perfect storm for dry, brittle hair. If you have color-treated hair, this dryness can make your color look dull. If you have extensions—whether tape-ins, hand-tied wefts, or any other method we offer—winter can be particularly tough on both your natural hair and the extension bonds.

Daily Protection Tips

Start with moisture. We recommend using a hydrating shampoo and conditioner (ask your stylist about our Davines products—they're game changers). When you wash, focus shampoo on your scalp and let it rinse through your lengths. Conditioner goes on your mid-lengths to ends only.

Here's the big one: don't skip heat protection. Even if you're just blow-drying, that heat protection spray is non-negotiable. It creates a barrier between your hair and hot tools, preventing moisture loss and color fade.

Extension-Specific Winter Care

If you have extensions, brush them gently 2-3 times per day with a loop brush or extension-safe brush. Start from the ends and work your way up. Winter static can cause tangles, and tangled extensions are stressed extensions.

Sleep with your hair in a loose braid or low ponytail to prevent friction while you sleep. Consider a silk pillowcase—it reduces friction and helps prevent both tangles and frizz.
