Summer Balayage: Why Now Is the Best Time to Book

Summer Balayage: Why Now Is the Best Time to Book

There's a reason balayage is the most requested service every summer. The sun-kissed, grown-out, effortlessly dimensional look was practically designed for warm weather — and right now, in the middle of a Georgia summer, is exactly when you want that color working for you.

If you've been putting it off, here's your nudge: we still have July openings, and here's why you shouldn't wait.

Balayage Was Made for Summer

Unlike traditional foil highlights that grow out with a visible root line, balayage is painted freehand — which means it grows out beautifully. There's no harsh line of demarcation to worry about. You can go 10, 12, even 16 weeks between appointments and your hair still looks intentional.

In summer, that matters. You want to enjoy your hair — not be in the salon every five weeks touching up roots.

The Most-Requested Summer Tones Right Now

  • Honey and caramel: warm, golden, works beautifully on brunettes and gives a natural summer-sun effect

  • Butter blonde: soft, creamy lightness that's less harsh than platinum — very wearable

  • Lived-in brunette with dimension: subtle lightness through the mid-lengths, keeping the base rich and dark

  • Copper and auburn: bold, warm, and having a major moment right now

Summer Balayage + Gloss = The Full Result

Here's what most clients don't realize: balayage alone gives you great dimension and placement, but adding a gloss or toning step at the end is what gives you that salon-polished finish. The gloss seals the cuticle, controls brassiness, and adds that mirror-like shine you see in the photos. We almost always recommend a gloss at the end of a balayage service — it's that much of a difference.

How to Protect Your Color All Summer

  • Use a UV-protectant hair product before spending time outdoors (Davines SU line is our go-to)

  • Rinse hair with fresh water before swimming to reduce chlorine/salt absorption

  • Use a purple or blue shampoo 1-2x per week to combat brassiness

  • Avoid direct sun exposure for extended periods without heat protection

July Openings Are Going Fast

Summer is our busiest season for color, and our balayage specialists book out quickly. If you want summer hair for the rest of the season — lake days, weddings, vacation photos — now is the time to lock in your spot.
