How to Make Your Salon Blowout Last All Week

You just left Welcome & Wanted Hair Bar with the most gorgeous blowout—shiny, smooth, bouncy, perfect. But by day two, it's already falling flat. Sound familiar? Our Canton stylists hear this constantly, and we're here to share the secrets to making that salon-fresh look last.
Night One is Critical
The first night after your blowout sets the tone for the rest of the week. Before bed, loosely gather your hair on top of your head in a high, loose bun or ponytail using a scrunchie or silk hair tie—never a regular elastic. This prevents the back of your head from getting flat while you sleep.
Even better? Invest in a silk or satin pillowcase. Cotton pillowcases create friction that causes frizz and tangles. Silk allows your hair to glide smoothly, keeping your blowout intact.
Day Two and Beyond: The Refresh
When you wake up, your hair might look a little flat or have a bend from your loose bun. Don't panic—this is fixable. Take down your hair and flip your head upside down. Use your fingers to gently shake out the roots, then flip back up. This restores volume.
If you have a few bends or kinks, use a flat iron or curling iron on a low setting to touch up just those areas. You're not re-styling your entire head—you're just refreshing specific pieces.
Dry Shampoo is Your Friend
By day two or three, your roots might start looking oily. Dry shampoo absorbs oil and adds texture and volume. The trick is application: spray it on your roots, wait 2-3 minutes for it to absorb the oil, then massage it in with your fingers or brush it through. Don't just spray and go—let it work first.
Hands Off
The more you touch your hair, the faster it gets oily and loses its shape. Constantly running your fingers through your hair transfers oils from your hands to your hair. If you must touch it, touch the ends, not the roots.
When to Wash
Most people wash their hair too often. Unless you work out intensely every day or have naturally very oily hair, you can probably go 3-5 days between washes. Each time you wash, you strip natural oils and have to restyle from scratch. Extending time between washes saves time and keeps your hair healthier.
