Whether you're taking a break from extensions, switching methods, or just ready for a change, extension removal is part of the process. At Welcome & Wanted Hair Bar in Canton, we ensure removal is gentle, safe, and leaves your natural hair in great condition.

Why Professional Removal Matters
Please, please, please—don't try to remove extensions yourself. Here's why:
●Beads can slip and tangle if not opened properly
●Pulling causes breakage and potential damage
●You can't see the back of your head well enough
●Professional tools make it safer and easier
A few minutes of impatience can cause months of damage repair. Trust us—it's worth the salon visit.
The Removal Process
Step 1: Bead Opening Your stylist uses special pliers to gently open each bead, releasing your natural hair. This doesn't hurt—you might feel slight pressure.
Step 2: Weft Release Once beads are opened, the thread is pulled through and the weft slides off. Your natural hair is now free.
Step 3: Shed Hair Removal Here's something that surprises first-timers: you'll see a lot of hair come out. Don't panic! This is completely normal.
Why so much hair? You naturally shed 50-100 hairs per day. With extensions, those shed
hairs get trapped in the rows instead of falling. At removal, all those accumulated shed hairs
come out at once. It's not damage or hair loss—it's months of normal shedding released
simultaneously.
Step 4: Cleanse and Treat We'll give your natural hair a thorough wash and conditioning
treatment. This removes any product buildup and refreshes your scalp.
Step 5: Assessment Your stylist will examine your natural hair for any concerns and
recommend any needed treatments.
After Removal: What to Expect
Immediately after:
●Hair may feel thinner (you're used to the extension volume!)
●Scalp may feel lighter or strange
●Some clients feel emotional (you've bonded with that hair!)
First few days:
●Hair may need extra conditioning
●You might notice how much natural volume you have (more than you thought!)
●Some clients miss their length and immediately plan their next install
Taking a break?
We recommend at least 2-4 weeks without extensions to let your scalp
breathe. Use this time for deep conditioning and any needed trims.
Reinstalling same day?
Some clients remove and reinstall in the same appointment. This
works if your hair is healthy and you're not taking a break.
Removal Pricing
Removal is typically included in your move-up appointment cost if you're reinstalling. Standalone
removal is quoted based on number of rows.
