The Removal Process by Method

• Hand-tied wefts: the thread holding the weft to the row is cut, the weft is removed, and the beads are opened and slid off the natural hair. No chemicals required. The process takes 1-2 hours depending on how many rows.

• K-tips: a bond remover solution is applied to each keratin bond, softening it until it can be gently slid off the natural hair. This is a longer process — 2-4 hours for a full head. No pulling or force should be used.

• I-tips: each bead is opened with a specialized tool and the extension strand is removed. Fastest removal of the three methods — typically 1-1.5 hours.

What Your Hair Looks Like After

When extensions are installed and maintained properly, your natural hair should look healthy after removal — possibly even better than before, since the routine maintenance required for extensions often benefits the natural hair underneath.

If extensions were installed incorrectly, maintained poorly, or pushed significantly past their maintenance windows, there may be some tangling or stress near the bonds. This is why proper care and maintenance timing matter so much.

After Removal: What Comes Next

After removal, we recommend a treatment appointment — a strengthening mask, a bond-building treatment, or a deep condition — to restore moisture and resilience. Then we assess. Some clients are ready to reinstall immediately. Others want to give their natural hair a rest. Both are valid.
