Here's exactly what we do at a maintenance appointment and why each step matters.

Why Maintenance Can't Be Skipped

Your natural hair grows about half an inch per month. Over 6-8 weeks, that means your weft rows or strand bonds have moved 3/4 to 1 inch away from your scalp. As they move further down, the weight of the extension hair pulls at a less supported point on your natural strand — which creates tension and potential breakage.

Skipping maintenance doesn't save you money. It creates damage that costs more to repair than the appointment you skipped.

What Happens at a Hand-Tied Weft Maintenance

• Your stylist removes each weft by carefully unbeading the rows

• Your natural hair is washed and assessed for any signs of stress or tangling

• New beads are placed closer to the scalp, and the wefts are re-sewn onto the new rows

• The stylist checks the condition of the extension hair — any worn or thin sections may be replaced

• A light blow dry and style finishes the appointment

What Happens at a K-Tip or I-Tip Maintenance

• K-tips: a bond remover solution is applied to each keratin bond, the bond is softened and removed, the extension strand is either replaced or reinstalled with a new bond closer to the scalp

• I-tips: each bead is opened with pliers, the extension is slid up, and the bead is re-clamped at the new position — faster and less involved than k-tip maintenance

At every maintenance appointment, we're assessing your natural hair's health — checking for any tension points, examining the integrity of the strands near the bonds or beads, and making sure the color blend still looks seamless as your natural hair grows.
